Barbour Japan
Barbour asked studioexp_ to translate their Heritage retail concept for a new flagship location on Cat Street, one of Tokyo’s most prestigious shopping destinations.
Designed as a best-in-class expression of the brand, the store needed to resonate with a local Japanese audience while elevating Barbour’s storytelling and sense of place. The architecture of the building differed from Barbour’s more familiar retail settings, requiring the Heritage concept to adapt — introducing a slightly more urban tone without losing the authenticity and character at the heart of the brand.
Through considered material choices, spatial planning and layered storytelling, studioexp_ delivered a flagship that feels confident, contemporary and culturally relevant, while remaining unmistakably Barbour.
